Wayne Rooney has delivered a blunt two-word reaction after a dramatic moment left Manchester United frustrated and Everton celebrating at the final whistle.
United looked to have done enough to leave Hill Dickinson Stadium with all three points after taking the lead twice during a frantic second half. However, their failure to close the game out once again proved costly as Everton produced a stunning late response.
The match had already developed into an entertaining contest, but the drama reached another level in stoppage time.

Manchester United had gone 2-1 ahead through Benjamin Sesko in the 88th minute, with the forward’s header seemingly putting Michael Carrick’s side on course for victory.
Everton, however, refused to accept defeat.
With virtually the final kick of the game, the home side found the breakthrough they desperately needed. A loose ball dropped outside the United penalty area and the substitute reacted brilliantly, sending a spectacular effort into the top corner.
The strike sparked wild celebrations inside the stadium and rescued a point for David Moyes’ side.
The man at the centre of the moment was Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The 29-year-old had only joined Everton from Lyon shortly before the match and was introduced from the bench in the 77th minute. Just minutes later, he produced a debut moment that Everton supporters will remember for a long time.
His 25-yard effort beat Senne Lammens and secured a 2-2 draw, extending Everton’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
For Manchester United, however, it was another frustrating afternoon.
The result means United have taken only four points from their opening three league matches, with the draw coming after they had already suffered defeat to Hull City earlier in the campaign. Rooney has subsequently questioned the pressure facing Carrick and the club’s ability to turn promising moments into consistent results.
But Rooney’s reaction to the dramatic Everton goal was particularly interesting.
The former United and Everton star summed up the moment with just two words: “Brilliant goal.”
It was a simple reaction, but one that perfectly captured the quality of what had just happened.
From an Everton perspective, it was a dream introduction for their new signing. Maitland-Niles had barely been on the pitch before producing the defining moment of the match, while Moyes praised the quality of the strike and described it as an excellent start for a player the club had only just brought in.
For United, meanwhile, the goal once again highlighted a worrying issue — the inability to manage matches when victory appears to be within reach.

Carrick’s side twice held the advantage but allowed Everton back into the contest on both occasions.
And that is exactly why Rooney’s reaction has attracted attention.
The former England and Manchester United forward knows what it takes to handle pressure at Old Trafford, and his comments come at a time when questions are already beginning to grow around Carrick and his squad.
One spectacular strike may have earned Everton a point, but for United, it could prove to be another warning that there is still plenty of work to do.
