🚨 JUST IN: NEWCASTLE UNITED COMPLETE BLOCKBUSTER DEAL as STAR PLAYER LANDS on Tyneside for Medical

Newcastle United have reportedly taken another major step toward strengthening their defence, with a highly-rated European defender arriving on Tyneside to complete the final stages of a significant transfer.

The 23-year-old is understood to have travelled to England after leaving Lisbon, with his arrival marking a major moment in Newcastle’s summer recruitment plans. He is expected to undergo his medical examination tomorrow before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

The player at the centre of the move is Amar Dedić, who is reportedly set to join Newcastle in a deal worth around £29.5 million (€35 million). The Bosnian international is expected to sign a contract running until 2031, underlining the club’s belief that he can become an important part of the team for years to come.

Dedić’s arrival would also have an interesting personal connection to Newcastle’s new era under head coach Matthias Jaissle. The German coach previously worked with the defender during his time at Red Bull Salzburg, meaning the player already understands Jaissle’s footballing philosophy and tactical demands.

That existing relationship could prove extremely valuable as Newcastle prepare for another demanding Premier League campaign. Jaissle will be looking to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level, and bringing in a player familiar with his methods could make the transition considerably smoother.

The decision to strengthen at right-back has also been influenced by circumstances within Newcastle’s squad. Tino Livramento’s calf injury has created an immediate concern in the position, while the departure of experienced defender Kieran Trippier has left another important gap that needs to be addressed.

Dedić is therefore expected to provide both immediate competition and long-term security. At just 23, he fits the profile of a player Newcastle can develop and rely upon over several seasons rather than simply using as a short-term solution.

His versatility is another factor likely to have attracted Newcastle. The Bosnian defender has demonstrated his ability to operate on the right side of defence while also offering the physical qualities required to cope with the intensity of English football.

For Newcastle supporters, the reported arrival represents another indication that the club are serious about building a squad around Jaissle’s vision. The Magpies have already been working to reshape their squad, and securing a young defender on a contract until 2031 would represent a significant commitment.

The medical will now be a crucial next step. Assuming there are no complications, the defender is expected to complete the formalities of his move before officially becoming a Newcastle United player.

With his previous relationship with Jaissle, his age, international experience and the sizeable investment involved, expectations will undoubtedly be high.

Newcastle now appear to be closing in on another major piece of their defensive rebuild — and fans at St James’ Park will be watching closely for the official confirmation.
