However, Leeds are also targeting young, emerging talents as they aim to build a strong pipeline of players capable of breaking into the first-team squad in the coming years.
It has now been claimed that Leeds are on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Leeds set to sign Silva Mexes from Manchester United
Silva Mexes has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United, and Leeds have been working on a deal to sign the 16-year-old winger for several months.
The teenager has decided against extending his stay at Old Trafford and is now on the verge of joining Leeds this summer.
An agreement is already in place for Mexes to join the Whites, and he is expected to complete the formalities of the transfer in the coming days.
According to The Talent Hunter, the teenager will initially sign a scholarship deal with Leeds. However, an agreement is also in place for him to sign a professional contract with the club when he turns 17 in early 2027.
Leeds have successfully sold their project to the youngster and his family, and he is expected to initially link up with the club’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides.
The Whites believe he has the potential to progress through the ranks and eventually break into the first-team squad.
