Leicester City’s Russell Martin Decision REVEALED — Ben Jacobs Drops Bombshell on What Insiders Are Saying After Monday’s Meeting 😳

Leicester City have a big decision to make regarding Russell Martin’s future after their poor start to the new League One season.

Rob Edwards is ‘appreciated’ by the Leicester City hierarchy, according to reporter Ben Jacobs.

Leicester City’s head coach Russell Martin is under some serious pressure at the moment after their poor start to the new season. LCFC lost 3-1 at home to Peterborough United last time out and they have a big decision to make regarding their managerial situation.

The Foxes were relegated from the Championship earlier this year along with Oxford United and Leicester City and they are currently positioned in 17th place in the League One table after their first eight fixtures of the campaign, just one point above the drop zone. They are back in action this weekend against Doncaster Rovers at the King Power Stadium.

Jacobs has delivered this update on Martin’s future on the Market Madness podcast: “Russell Martin on thin ice at Leicester City. He needs instant results otherwise the expectation is that Leicester will make a change and there’s already some people within Leicester according to my information that are pushing for a change now.”

He added the available Edwards is admired by Leicester City: “Neil Lennon is one candidate I’m told would be interested in the role, Rob Edwards is appreciated too.”

Leicester City could see Edwards as someone to steady the ship. He is an experienced manager in the EFL and would be an eye-catching appointment by LCFC if they decide to cut ties with Martin.

Edwards, 43, was sacked by Wolves in the summer after they slipped out of the Premier League. He has since been weighing up his next move in the game.

The ex-Aston Villa, Barnsley and Blackpool defender started his managerial career with spells at AFC Telford United, England U16s, Forest Green Rovers and Watford. Luton Town came calling in 2022 and he later guided the Hatters to the top flight against the odds.

Edwards spent three years at Kenilworth Road before he was dismissed in January 2025. He has since worked at both Middlesbrough and Wolves but is unattached right now as he carefully considers his next steps in the game.

Edwards may have reservations about dropping into the third tier. However, Leicester City should try and tempt him.

The Foxes have great facilities and if he can improve their performances, there is no reason why they can’t rise up the division over the coming months if he went there.

Martin’s appointment at LCFC hasn’t worked out and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him given the chop if their form doesn’t improve in the near future.

Edwards’ exit from Wolves was a surprise and raised a few eyebrows across the country. He may feel he has a point to prove in the dugout now and will be waiting for the right opportunity to arise. The Telford-born man hasn’t rushed into any jobs just yet.
