Leicester City have had two League One fixtures postponed due to the first international break of the 2026/27 season.
All you need to know about Leicester City’s fixture postponements at the end of this month and start of October…
Two fixtures postponed: Leicester City’s League One fixtures against Wigan Athletic and Blackpool have been postponed. The two games were due to take place during the first international break of the 2026/27 season.
EFL Trophy latest: Despite the two league games being postponed, the EFL Trophy group stage double header against Fulham U21s (September 22) and Stevenage (October 5) will go ahead as planned.
International ruling: Unlike the Premier League and Championship, League One football continues during the international windows. However, if at least three players are called up for senior, Under-21, Under-20 and Under-19 duty, clubs can request a postponement.
New dates: When the Blackpool and Wigan games will be played is not yet known but will be announced accordingly.
City’s stance: In a statement released on Wednesday, Leicester confirmed that ‘at least three of our players’ had been called up, although no confirmation has come yet. The likes of Harry Souttar, Bade Aluko, Louis Page, Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Ilari Kangasniemi are all expected to be called-up.
Future postponements: It’s extremely possible that more postponements will come in the season, with the next international break in November running from the 9-17th. City’s home fixture against Bradford City could be moved. There are then the Easter weekend fixtures against Wycombe Wanderers (March 26) and AFC Wimbledon (March 29) that are currently scheduled for an international break.
New fixture list: City play two away games against Stockport County and Barnsley in their next two games before hosting Fulham U21s in the EFL Trophy.
Their next game then isn’t until October 6 against Stevenage, before they return to league action on October 10. So there will be three weeks between League One games.
