Russell Martin has dropped a major hint over the future of a Leicester City star whose situation has become one of the biggest talking points around the club following a dramatic summer.
The player was expected to leave the King Power Stadium before the transfer deadline, with several potential moves discussed in recent weeks. But despite efforts to find an agreement, nothing materialised before the English window slammed shut, leaving his future hanging in the balance.
Now, Martin has broken his silence on the situation and admitted that there could still be a significant change before the end of the month. With several European transfer windows remaining open, Leicester have not completely ruled out an exit.

The Leicester boss also revealed just how difficult the situation has been for the player, praising his professionalism despite knowing that his future at the club was uncertain.
“He’s still here, there’s a lot of windows still open, I couldn’t tell you exactly which ones, but Jon [Rudkin] and James [McCarron] went through them this morning,” Martin told BBC Radio Leicester.
“I really feel for Wout, it’s a really difficult position because he’s a really good football player, but he’s been an amazing human being in the building.
“Professional, trained so hard whilst knowing his future is probably not going to be here, or short-term future, and then now we’re in the situation we’re in.
“There were a couple of moves that looked really likely to happen that would have been good for us and good for him, and they’ve fallen through for various reasons. And that’s the problem with having a deadline day after the season starts.
“As far as I’m concerned, I really like Wout, we’ve had a lot of conversations. If he ends up going to a club where the window’s open now, then it’ll be good for him and good for us, and if not he’ll be a really valuable member of the squad because like I said, as a human being he’s been top class.
“And it’s the same with Couli [Woyo Coulibaly]. They’re very different characters with Woyo, very quiet, really unassuming, but a good professional, a good player who did really well against Ipswich.
“So if they both stay, they have to work hard to get into the squad and into the team and they’ll be treated exactly the same, but I still think there might be a change in that situation, but we’ll wait and see.
“Let’s wait until they shut and see where we’re at and if he’s still here this time next week it is probably a very different conversation and then it’ll be up to him and we’ve got a lot of options in that position now.
“The club’s been really strong, the owners have been great, Jon and James, we had bids for Caleb as well late on that we turned away.
“If Wout comes back in it’s a real competition in that position and like I said, he’ll be really welcome.”
