🚨DONE DEAL..Newcastle Reach Agreement in Principle for €30M Star as Jaissle Pushes to Have Him Ready for Liverpool

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of a 23-year-old Bosnian international after reaching an agreement in principle with Benfica, with the Magpies working to complete the remaining details of the deal before next weekend’s Premier League opener against Liverpool.

The proposed transfer would see the versatile defender move to St James’ Park in a deal worth around €30 million, with additional bonuses potentially taking the overall package higher. Personal terms are already understood to have been agreed, with the player set to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League club.

Newcastle are now hoping to move quickly and arrange the player’s medical this weekend as they look to make him available for their opening fixture against Liverpool.

The urgency has increased because Tino Livramento is currently unavailable, leaving Matthias Jaissle looking for additional options at right-back ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Dedić’s ability to operate in several defensive positions makes him an attractive option for the Newcastle head coach.

Primarily a right-back, the Bosnian international can also play on the left side of defence and has experience operating in central defence. That versatility could prove particularly valuable to Jaissle as he continues to reshape his Newcastle squad.

Interestingly, the proposed move would also reunite Dedić with Jaissle. The pair previously worked together during their time at RB Salzburg and Liefering, giving the Newcastle boss familiarity with the defender’s qualities and tactical understanding.

Jaissle is understood to be fully supportive of the move and believes Dedić can make an immediate contribution to his Newcastle side. His familiarity with the player could also help accelerate the defender’s integration into the squad if the transfer is completed in time.

Dedić joined Benfica from Salzburg last year for a reported €12 million, but Newcastle are now prepared to pay significantly more to secure his services.

Although an overall agreement has been reached in principle, the final stages of the transfer are still being completed. Newcastle remain confident that the outstanding details can be resolved quickly, allowing the player to undergo his medical and complete the formalities of the move.

The Magpies are particularly keen to have Dedić registered and integrated into the squad as soon as possible, with the trip to Liverpool next weekend already firmly in their plans.

If everything goes according to schedule, Dedić could therefore find himself making his Newcastle debut in one of the biggest possible opening fixtures — away against Liverpool.

For Jaissle, the signing would provide another versatile defensive option while also bringing in a player he already knows and trusts. For Newcastle supporters, meanwhile, the focus will now be on whether the remaining details can be completed quickly enough for the Bosnian international to be involved from the very first weekend of the new Premier League season.
