The Magpies are exploring a deal for Egypt international Omar Marmoush, whose future at Manchester City has come under scrutiny after he fell down the pecking order.
Newcastle are among the clubs showing strong interest in the versatile forward, with Tottenham Hotspur and several Bundesliga sides also monitoring his situation.
The Magpies’ interest comes during a major squad rebuild, with Eddie Howe eager to add more quality and experience in attack. Marmoush’s ability to play as a striker, second striker or winger makes him an attractive option as Newcastle reshape their squad.
The 27-year-old joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth around €75 million, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. His current market value is estimated at €50 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Despite limited opportunities, Marmoush has scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 61 appearances for City since arriving midway through the 2025 season.
Before moving to England, the Egyptian international enjoyed an outstanding spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, registering 37 goals and 20 assists in 67 matches and establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking players.
Although Newcastle’s interest is genuine, no formal offer has been submitted, and there is no agreement between the clubs at this stage. It also remains unclear whether Manchester City are prepared to let Marmoush leave or whether the player would be open to a move to St James’ Park.
