Newcastle United’s Premier League rivals have appointed a new manager ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new manager after parting company with Vitor Pereira.

Forest triggered a mutual break clause in Pereira’s contract last week, despite the Portuguese boss guiding the club to Premier League safety and a Europa League semi-final.

Glasner departed Crystal Palace at the end of last season as the club’s most successful-ever manager after winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League during his two-and-a-half years in charge.

Newcastle United have already made Eddie Howe decision

Since the beginning of last season, every Premier League club except Arsenal, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Brentford, Newcastle United, Everton and Leeds United has overseen a managerial change.

Newcastle’s owners made the decision to stick with Eddie Howe, despite the head coach coming under intense pressure from fans following last season’s 12th-place finish and back-to-back Tyne-Wear derby defeats to Sunderland.

The Magpies have put their full faith in Howe to lead the club’s summer rebuild, with the sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali helping fund a recruitment strategy focused on signing young players with high potential.

Howe’s side have completed two new signings so far, with 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen joining from Stade de Reims for £18 million and 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure arriving from Hoffenheim for £43 million.
