Newcastle United Sporting Director Ross Wilson has expressed his delight after the club completed the signing of highly-rated winger Bazoumana Touré, describing the Ivory Coast international as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
The Magpies have moved decisively to secure the services of the 20-year-old after weeks of negotiations, with the deal finally being completed while the player was away representing his country at the FIFA Club World Cup. Touré’s arrival marks another significant step in Newcastle’s long-term recruitment strategy, which continues to focus on acquiring elite young talent with substantial development potential.
Speaking after the completion of the transfer, Wilson could not hide his excitement about what the talented winger will bring to St James’ Park.

“We’re delighted to welcome Bazoumana to Newcastle United,” Wilson said. “At just 20 years old, he’s already a hugely exciting young talent who has progressed year on year.”
The Sporting Director emphasized that Newcastle’s hierarchy views Touré not simply as a player for the future, but as an individual capable of making an immediate impact while continuing to develop under the club’s coaching structure.
“We are sure there’s plenty more growth still to come – development we’re excited to nurture here at Newcastle,” Wilson added.
Newcastle’s recruitment team have reportedly been tracking Touré’s progress for an extended period, impressed by his rapid rise and consistent performances. The club intensified their efforts in recent weeks to finalize the transfer, working around the player’s international commitments to ensure a smooth completion of the deal.
“We’ve been working to get this transfer arranged in recent weeks, whilst Bazoumana has been at the World Cup,” Wilson revealed.
The Sporting Director also took the opportunity to acknowledge the role played by Touré’s former club, praising their conduct throughout negotiations and their commitment to the player’s development.
“Finally, I’d like to thank TSG Hoffenheim for their professionalism in all of our discussions and for the care they’ve shown him,” Wilson said. “I know they share our excitement in Bazoumana’s quality and potential.”

Touré arrives on Tyneside with considerable expectations surrounding him. Known for his pace, direct running, technical ability, and creativity in the final third, he is regarded by many scouts as one of the most promising attacking prospects of his generation.
For Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and the club’s supporters, the signing represents another statement of ambition. While Touré remains at the beginning of his professional journey, there is growing belief within the club that he possesses all the attributes necessary to become a major star in the Premier League.
As Newcastle continue building a squad capable of competing at the highest level domestically and in Europe, the arrival of Bazoumana Touré may well prove to be one of the club’s most exciting investments of the modern era.
