Reports claim Eddie Howe is working with the smallest transfer budget he has had since becoming Newcastle manager.
Unless the Magpies sanction another major sale before the transfer window closes, the club is expected to have very little room to strengthen the squad despite several key departures and failed pursuits of top targets.
The latest revelations have sparked strong reactions from sections of the Newcastle fanbase on social media.

Others questioned why Newcastle continue to lose important players while struggling to bring in suitable replacements, with some calling for major changes behind the scenes and demanding more ambition from the club’s hierarchy.
The financial situation has made life difficult for Howe and sporting director Ross Wilson during the opening weeks of the transfer window.
Newcastle believed they had won the race to sign Victor Munoz before Liverpool completed a late £34 million move for the youngster, while a potential deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha was ruled out because his reported £73.5 million price tag was considered too expensive.
Although Newcastle received £69.3 million from Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona, only part of that money is currently available for new signings.
As things stand, the Magpies cannot significantly increase their spending unless another high-value player leaves St James’ Park.
The club are also working under the new SCR financial regulations and are expected to face a UEFA financial penalty after breaching the governing body’s rules.
Newcastle have already spent £18.5 million on goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, leaving limited funds for further additions.
Compared to previous transfer windows, the difference is significant. Howe spent more than £240 million last summer, around £65 million in 2024, approximately £140 million in 2023 and £163 million in 2022.
This summer is currently set to be the smallest transfer budget of his Newcastle reign unless another major sale changes the situation.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to surround captain Bruno Guimaraes after Arsenal made enquiries through intermediaries about the Brazilian midfielder.
However, Newcastle sources insist no official bid has been submitted and maintain that Guimaraes remains a key part of the club’s long-term project.
Club officials are determined not to sell their captain unless an exceptional offer is received.
