JUST IN: Eddie Howe sensationally told to leave Newcastle United amid £75m transfer stand-off

Newcastle United are continuing to battle transfer speculation surrounding several of their high-profile players, with former Sunderland striker Darren Bent suggesting that manager Eddie Howe could eventually become frustrated if uncertainty persists.

The Magpies made an early move in the summer transfer window by bringing in Ewan Jouen, but much of the discussion surrounding the club since then has focused on potential departures rather than new arrivals. Several key players, including Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, have been linked with moves away from St James’ Park.

Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are monitoring Bruno Guimaraes’ situation. However, Newcastle have shown no intention of selling their captain, who remains a crucial part of Eddie Howe’s plans.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Sandro Tonali has intensified. Tottenham Hotspur are understood to have seen approaches in the region of £75 million rejected by Newcastle, with the club valuing the Italian midfielder significantly higher, potentially close to the £100 million mark.

Former Sunderland striker Darren Bent believes the uncertainty surrounding Newcastle’s key players could eventually test Eddie Howe’s patience. Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent suggested that if he were in Howe’s position, he would seek clear assurances from the club’s hierarchy regarding the team’s direction.

Bent said: “It’s huge. If I’m Eddie Howe, I’m having a serious conversation with the board. I’m saying, ‘enough is enough.’ He was getting criticised last season after what he did previously, winning the cup there.

“But in terms of the investment, when you look at what they’ve lost and the speculation surrounding other key players, people are still going to critique him if Newcastle are not competitive. What’s he supposed to do?”

He continued: “For Eddie Howe, I feel for him because I think he’s a really good coach. If he doesn’t get clarity and clear answers about the direction of the club, then he’d have every reason to be frustrated.”

Despite the growing speculation, there is currently no indication that Eddie Howe is considering leaving Newcastle United, while the club remain determined to retain their biggest stars and strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
