Abdulhafiz TeslimNewcastle United star Sandro Tonali is watching on as his future remains uncertain, with reports suggesting his representatives are exploring potential transfer options amid growing Premier League interest.
The Magpies are braced for another major transfer saga following last summer’s speculation surrounding Alexander Isak, although Tonali himself has not publicly pushed for a move away from St James’ Park.
Reports have claimed that Tonali was offered to Arsenal through intermediaries, with the Gunners understood to have been informed that Newcastle value the Italian midfielder at around £100 million. However, Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, has denied holding direct talks with Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur remain the club most advanced in their pursuit of the 26-year-old, while Manchester United have also shown interest and Manchester City continue to monitor the situation.
According to reports, Tonali’s agency, GR Sports, could receive a commission if a transfer is completed, while Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi is believed to have strong connections with the midfielder’s representatives.
Newcastle’s asking price remains around £100 million, although reports suggest offers comfortably above £85 million could encourage further discussions.
Giuseppe Riso has never hidden the possibility of Tonali eventually joining another elite Premier League club. Speaking three months ago, he said:
«”The goal when Sandro moved to England was to develop him into a stellar footballer — and that’s exactly what’s happening at Newcastle.»
«”Clubs like Manchester City or Arsenal are likely to come knocking, especially if he shines at the World Cup. Everything really kicks off after the tournament.”»
Despite the speculation, Newcastle had been considering handing Tonali greater responsibility, including discussions over making him vice-captain. The Italian captained the Magpies during last season’s 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth, although that could ultimately prove to be one of his final appearances for the club if a deal is agreed.
Tonali has previously made his feelings about life at Newcastle clear, saying:

«”I’ve had a lot of thoughts every day – but right now – I’m very happy where I am.”»
Meanwhile, reports also claim Tonali could earn around £275,000 per week if a move to Tottenham is completed.
