The Magpies have been actively searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with the club determined to add more pace, creativity, and depth to their wide areas. After their pursuit of Muñoz failed to materialize, Newcastle’s recruitment department has reportedly revived its long-standing admiration for Fofana, who has been on their radar since last summer.
The 21-year-old Belgian has continued to enhance his reputation with impressive performances for Olympique Lyonnais. Blessed with explosive pace, excellent dribbling ability, and the confidence to take on defenders one-on-one, Fofana is widely regarded as one of Belgium’s brightest attacking prospects. His versatility is another major attraction, as he is capable of playing on either wing while also operating in more central attacking positions when required.
Newcastle’s scouting department reportedly believes Fofana possesses the qualities needed to thrive in the Premier League.
