According to MilanPress, the 20-year-old enjoyed a “dream season” during the 2025/26 campaign under former Milan manager Max Allegri. His development has been described as “exponential” after making 33 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as a regular in the first team.
Bartesaghi often featured as Milan’s first-choice left wing-back ahead of Pervis Estupiñán and also impressed when used as a left-sided centre-back in Allegri’s back-three system.
The report states that Newcastle are “closely monitoring” the defender and have already been “in touch” with his entourage, although no formal offer has been made at this stage.
Despite AC Milan missing out on Champions League qualification for a second consecutive season, Bartesaghi’s future remains a subject of growing interest. Newcastle are believed to be considering a summer move as they continue to assess defensive options.
The Magpies are also said to benefit from a positive relationship with the Italian giants following Sandro Tonali’s transfer, which could help if negotiations advance.
Any potential deal remains in the early stages, with Bartesaghi contracted to Milan until 2030. However, reports claim the Rossoneri’s previous attempts to extend his contract have not yet been successful.
Bartesaghi’s versatility is seen as a major attraction. The Italian youngster can operate at left-back, left wing-back, or in central defence, making him a profile similar to Lewis Hall.
MilanPress added that Newcastle could look to “execute a summer move” for the defender if their interest develops further.
For now, no official bid has been submitted, but Bartesaghi is emerging as one of the latest names linked with a move to St James’ Park as Newcastle continue their transfer planning for the new season.
