BREAKING NEWS: West Ham Star’s Wife Accuses Manager Of Destroying Season After Relegation

The wife of Alphonse Areola has launched a stinging attack on Nuno Espirito Santo following West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham’s 14-year stay in the Premier League came to an end on Sunday, despite the Hammers securing a 3-0 home win over Leeds United on the final day of the season.

Their victory proved meaningless, however, as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Everton 1-0 to secure survival, finishing two points above 18th-placed West Ham.

Areola’s wife, Marrion, took to social media to blame both Nuno and former manager Graham Potter for the club’s relegation, while also criticising the pair for dropping her husband during the campaign.

Marrion initially shared an image of Areola holding the Europa Conference League trophy in 2023 and wrote: “From a trophy to relegation. Thank you Potter for the start of this season and Nuno for the end.”

She later posted more memories from West Ham’s European triumph before adding a broken-heart emoji to express her disappointment at the club’s dramatic decline.

Areola lost his place as West Ham’s No.1 goalkeeper under Potter after the signing of Mads Hermansen from Leicester City in an £18 million move last summer.

The French goalkeeper eventually regained his starting role after Hermansen struggled during West Ham’s opening four league matches, with the Hammers losing three times and conceding 11 goals.

Areola then featured in the next 20 Premier League matches, 19 of which came under Nuno’s management.

However, West Ham won only four of those games, with Areola conceding 37 goals and failing to keep a clean sheet during that period.

Hermansen reclaimed his place following West Ham’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at the end of January, despite the Hammers having led 2-0 at half-time.

Marrion accused Nuno of dropping her husband “for no particular reason.”

“Being dropped at the beginning of the season for no reason,” she wrote.

“Being back after a very bad start and then playing 20 games, and all of a sudden: ‘I’m really sorry — you won’t start.’ ‘Why?’ ‘For no particular reason, but I’m sorry.’”
