The club is reportedly facing a £71.1 million shortfall for the 2024–25 season, a situation largely blamed on years of over-reliance on Premier League broadcasting revenue and aggressive player trading strategies that have now collapsed.
Since 2019, total losses are believed to have reached around £375 million. To stay operational, the club has also taken on over £100 million in high-interest loans, adding even more pressure to an already difficult situation.
Now preparing for life in League One, Leicester’s problems are only getting worse. Financial rules in the division are stricter, limiting how much clubs can spend relative to owner investment. The failed appeal against a six-point deduction has further tightened the club’s room to maneuver, both financially and competitively.
As a result, Leicester are expected to slash their wage bill by as much as 30–40 percent, signaling a major shift in how the club operates going forward.
Amid all this, midfielder Harry Winks has also come under heavy criticism from supporters. Many fans have questioned his consistency and overall contribution, especially given the club’s current struggles.
There have also been reported concerns about his attitude and level of commitment, with some supporters feeling he has not fully aligned with the team’s objectives during a crucial period.
Winks is believed to be earning around £90,000 per week at Leicester, a figure that has intensified debate among fans when compared to other players across Europe.
