Leicester City have been warned to brace themselves for life in League One as their nightmare Championship campaign edges closer to a devastating conclusion.

With just five games remaining, the Foxes sit 22nd in the table, and although they are only one point away from safety, their poor form has left fans fearing the worst. The growing belief around the club is that relegation is no longer just a possibility  it is becoming an expectation.

According to data from Opta, Leicester are projected to finish 22nd with 47.62 points, placing them just one point behind safety. More worrying is the 58.52% probability of relegation, one of the highest in the Championship, further highlighting the scale of the crisis.

Manager Gary Rowett now faces the biggest challenge of his tenure, with crucial fixtures against Swansea City, Portsmouth, Hull City, Millwall, and Blackburn Rovers set to decide the club’s fate. Anything less than near-perfect results could confirm their drop to the third tier.

The situation represents a shocking fall from grace. Just a decade ago, under Claudio Ranieri, Leicester stunned the football world by winning the Premier League title in 2015/16 with 81 points, finishing 10 clear at the top.

Relegation to League One would mark their first time in the third tier since 2008/09, underlining just how far the club has fallen in such a short period.

Despite the bleak outlook, survival is still mathematically possible. With 15 points available, Leicester could still climb the table if they produce a perfect run but they must also rely on other results going their way.
