The match had everything early goals, late pressure, and moments that could have changed the result completely. One side showed strong defensive discipline, while the other was left to regret missed chances.
After the game, Pedersen focused on his team’s effort and mentality, highlighting the importance of unity and resilience in such a demanding contest.
He said:
“It gives our defenders great confidence to have a top goalkeeper behind them. All of our players worked very hard, but Pierce was outstanding. He has the quality to play at the highest level.
“I saw another huge effort from the team today. Of course, it is disappointing to concede late, but the players gave everything to try and win.
“We played against a strong side full of Premier League players who needed points to move out of the bottom three, so we expected a lot of pressure.
“I believe there are things we could have done better with the ball, but our discipline was very good and mentally we stayed strong.
“The players always try to support each other. We want to play with the mindset that there are no mistakes, only the next action.
“The atmosphere today was fantastic. We’ve had great support before, but this was the best this season. The fans gave us incredible energy.”
The praise was clearly directed at 20-year-old goalkeeper Pierce Charles, whose series of crucial saves helped his side secure a valuable point.
Leicester had earlier responded to Jerry Yates’ opener through Jordan Ayew, but were denied a win despite creating several big chances.
Rowett Frustrated After Missed Chances
For Leicester, the result was another setback in their fight to avoid relegation.
Manager Gary Rowett did not hide his frustration after watching his side fail to take advantage of their dominance.
He said:
“It’s very frustrating and a big disappointment not to win after creating so many chances.
“I understand the expectation to come here and win, but many teams have found it difficult at Sheffield Wednesday this season.
“What you can’t do is give them confidence early, and we did that after just a minute and a half. That allowed them to sit back and made it harder for us.
“We had five or six clear chances, and their goalkeeper made some excellent saves. I believe we did enough to win.
“At times we rushed things and the game became messy, but when we stayed patient, we created good opportunities we just didn’t take enough of them.
“They only had one shot on target. We controlled possession and created chances, but again we didn’t make it count.
“I would be more worried if we weren’t creating chances at all. We just need to keep believing and continue doing the right things.”
