West Ham United are facing a very huge financial difficulties due to Niclas Füllkrug’s injury issues, despite receiving some compensation from FIFA.

Stefan Borson, a former financial adviser for Manchester City, has revealed that the amount compensated will barely cover a fraction of the striker’s wages and rehabilitation expenses but couldn’t be upto hundred percent of the expenses.

Football Insider’s reports indicate that West Ham are “very concerned” about Füllkrug’s fitness as he continues to recover from a troublesome Achilles injury, which has kept him in the sidelined longer than anticipated.

Since his £27.5 million move from German club Borussia Dortmund, the 31-year-old has yet to start a league match and has missed the last six fixtures across all competitions.

Füllkrug sustained his injury while on international duty with the doubt that he will be sidelined throughout the season, prompting FIFA to offer compensation of just over £17,000 for each day he remains unavailable which is deem little as per his big wages and contributions he could add to the team expecially in the teams current difficulties on field.

However, Borson stressed that this compensation is inadequate, leaving the club to “pick up the pieces” of the financial fallout.

He commented: “They will still be covering most of Füllkrug’s wages. Pep talks about this quite a lot, the condition of players coming back from international duty, and the number of players injured on international duty. It’s an interesting subject. I don’t really understand how it happens, but often a player will come back with quite a serious injury.”

Borson continued, “The clubs then have to pick up the pieces, because they’re paying the wages. West Ham will be getting some form of compensation from FIFA, but they’ll have to deal with the majority of the problem.

They have to pay the wages and the cost of rehabilitating Füllkrug as well. That’s just one of the problems with international football these days.”

West Ham United will not be happy with the situation. The player’s move to the London club during the summer was a source of excitement for the fans, but it has now become a nightmare for the team as he will be sidelined for the long term. On field the hammers are yet to kickstart the season with a very poor outcomes so far.

Füllkrug would have been a solution to the team’s difficult start to the season, as they are yet to find their feet in the EPL, battling in the relegation zone after just nine matchdays.
