Recent reports from ABC Sevilla reveals that Real Betis are confident that Spurs will secure the services of the United States international before the summer of 2025.

This rooted back to an agreement struck earlier this season when Tottenham sold Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis for just £8.4 million, which included a €25 million (£20.8 million) option to buy Cardoso if the club are interested on the star.

Spurs have until July 1, 2025, to activate this option before the offer expires, and sources from Real Betis are reportedly certain that the deal will materialise.

This news has arrived on the back of a strong performance from Cardoso, who played a pivotal role in Real Betis’s recent 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid, further boosting his current market value.

The excitement surrounding Cardoso’s potential signing is visible among Spurs fans, particularly given his inclusion in the WhoScored LaLiga Team of the Week following his standout display this past weekend.

His addition could provide much-needed structure to a Tottenham midfield that has often plagued by inconsistency than a well complimented set up.

Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham’s manager, currently manage a talented group of midfielders including Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Yves Bissouma as an option for matchday selection.

While these players are very good at ball progression and attacking movement, the team often lacks the stability provided by a traditional defensive midfielder who will help organise the midfield and stop opposition from attacking.

The absence of a player who can control the midfield and ensure defensive solidity has led to a style of play that sometimes resembles basketball, fast-paced but lacking in control.

Cardoso could be the missing piece to this puzzle, fulfilling the role of a No. 6 who can help stabilise and organise the midfield. His potential contribution is good example of Rodri at Manchester City, a player who has become integral to his team’s balance and effectiveness both in attack and defence.

Moreover, there is an interesting twist in Cardoso’s potential move to Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino former spurs manager, now at the helm of the U.S. national team, the nation which cardoso represent.

This relationship could bolster an excellent transition for the young midfielder should he join the club, as both men share a vision for the game that could lead to mutual benefits and excel.
