🚨 BREAKING: Newcastle United Receive WORST News on Tuesday Evening That Leaves the Toon Army in TEARS After Fresh Locker Room Reports CONFIRM HEARTBREAKING Sad News

Anthony Elanga has quickly established himself as an important part of Matthias Jaissle’s Newcastle United attack, scoring twice across the club’s opening three Premier League matches of the season.

That’s why Newcastle United fans will surely be concerned by the latest situation surrounding the Sweden international, who remains sidelined following an injury setback.

Elanga was surprisingly absent from the squad for Monday’s 4-1 defeat at Leeds United, with Jaissle revealing just before kick-off that the injury could potentially prove long-term.

“It could be long-term,” Jaissle told Sky Sports. “He will get another MRI next week and we will see.”

The initial update was already worrying for Newcastle supporters, particularly because Elanga had quickly become an important part of Jaissle’s attacking plans following his summer arrival.

However, the Newcastle head coach remained concerned when discussing Elanga’s condition after the final whistle at Elland Road.

“With Anthony Elanga, it’s obvious that he struggles with an injury,” Jaissle said. “We need to further investigate how serious it is. But at the moment it doesn’t look that good.”

There is still no confirmed timeframe for Elanga’s recovery, with Newcastle waiting for further examinations before determining the full extent of the problem.

The Magpies are also about to embark on a three-week international break, which could give the winger some valuable time to recover. However, there are already fears that even the extended break may not be enough for him to return when Newcastle resume action.

Elanga has scored two goals in Newcastle’s first three Premier League games, establishing himself as a significant attacking threat and Jaissle’s No. 1 right winger.

Losing him for an extended period would therefore leave Jaissle without one of his most productive attackers during the early stages of the season and could potentially push Jacob Murphy into a starting role while Elanga remains unavailable.

When Jaissle was asked after the Leeds defeat whether any of Newcastle’s injured players could recover in time for the weekend, the head coach gave another worrying response.

“It doesn’t look good at the moment.”

Newcastle are now waiting for Elanga’s additional MRI next week, which should provide a clearer picture of how serious the injury is.

Until then, Newcastle fans will understandably fear the worst as the club waits to discover whether one of Jaissle’s key attacking players could be facing a long-term spell on the sidelines.
